Mr. Bryan Salsgiver, Principal
Bryan Salsgiver serves as principal at Blue Valley Middle School. Before stepping into this role, he began his career at Washington High School in the Kansas City, Kansas, school district, where he taught business and computer courses and served as head football coach for three years.
He later taught career explorations at Turner Middle School for two years before joining the Blue Valley School District as an instructional design coach. In that role, he supported students and teachers at Overland Trail Middle School while also helping to guide career and technical education programs for grades 6–12 across the district. His work in curriculum and instruction eventually led to his current leadership role at Blue Valley Middle.
Salsgiver is a lifelong sports enthusiast and has coached high school football for more than 15 years. He has also coached basketball and baseball but considers football his greatest passion.
Outside of school, he enjoys camping, hiking and spending time outdoors with his family. He and his wife, Natalie, have two children, Harper and Colton.
Salsgiver is committed to creating a supportive environment for students, staff and families. Influenced by the positive impact of teachers and coaches in his own life, he values the important work educators do every day and is proud to serve the Blue Valley Middle School community.

Mrs. Brooke Ash, Assistant Principal
Brooke Ash serves as assistant principal at Blue Valley Middle School. A proud graduate of the Blue Valley School District and Blue Valley Northwest High School, she began her educational journey at the University of Nebraska, earning a bachelor's degree in elementary education. She later earned a master's degree in educational leadership from Pittsburg State University.
Ash began her teaching career in the Shawnee Mission School District before transitioning to Overland Trail Middle School, where she taught science, English and executive functioning skills. She also coached softball and volleyball at Blue Valley West High School for six years. Inspired by the impact teachers and coaches had on her own life, Ash values building meaningful connections with students and families and enjoys seeing former students and athletes out in the community.
Before joining Blue Valley Middle, Ash served as assistant principal at Lakewood Middle School. She previously worked as an instructional design coach and one of the district’s grades 6–12 science coordinators, primarily supporting Leawood Middle and Prairie Star Middle. In those roles, she mentored new teachers, collaborated on lesson planning, led professional development and contributed to district science curriculum and resource adoption.
Outside of school, Ash enjoys traveling with her family and spending time outdoors. She and her husband, Nick, have been married for nearly a decade and have two children, Peyton and Barrett.
Ash is excited to be part of the Blue Valley Middle School community and looks forward to building relationships with students, staff and families in the years ahead.
